Fire broke out in an East Wind Apartment in East Patchogue approximately at noon on Easter Sunday.
Residents of the 899 building, where the fire originated, and 901 building were forced to evacuate by police.
A portion of Montauk Highway, where the East Winds apartments are located, were closed off for emergency vehicles, but is now open for normal traffic.

After putting out the flames, authorities determined the cause of the fire was an electrical malfunction. No one was injured, and residents were allowed back into their homes at approximately 1 pm.
